Julie Lewis’ 1st and 2nd grade Gifted and Talented students from Winnsboro Elementary recently donated an incredible 1,200 jars of peanut butter and jelly to WCRC! 🥜🍓 Their generosity will help provide many meals for families in our community.
During their visit, Marlee Messimer, a dedicated youth volunteer, joined by her mother Jenny Messimer, shared information about WCRC with the class and helped lead tours so the students could learn more about the work being done.
We would also like to give a special THANK YOU to Kristie Amason, WCRC board member, and the Gilbreath Memorial Library for sponsoring the event and providing donuts and drinks for the students. 🍩
WCRC is incredibly grateful for the involvement and support of our local schools, teachers, students, and parents. Together, we are making a difference in our community! ❤️

Each year in October, our schools in Winnsboro and Mt. Vernon face off in a friendly competition to see who can collect the most canned goods for our community. This year, our Winnsboro schools pushed us over the top and brought the trophy back home where it belongs! 🏆🥫

Special thank you to Nan Saucier and Eric Peterson, Team Air for delivering the cans to the pantry, and the Beta Club for helping unload and stock the shelves. Your support helps make this effort possible!
We’re so proud of our students, staff, and community for coming together to make such a big impact. Thank you for showing what Winnsboro pride and generosity look like! ❤️

This will streamline the check-in procedure for people coming for food assistance, and it links directly to the East Texas Food Bank records eliminating the time our volunteers spend manually imputing information. With the grant The WCRC will also be able to eliminate the file cabinets of stored paper records by scanning them and creating digital files.
Thank you to the Board of the TCBS Foundation for making this a reality.

We announce on our Facebook page on the Monday morning of delivery to announce what we have and when it will be available to pick up.

Our walk-in cooler is installed and operational for use! We are so very grateful to all who donated to make this a reality. It is going to so expand our refrigeration space allowing us to safely store food.

Our amazing team of regulars and part-time volunteers are committed to helping others.
We take our convictions and turn them into action.

By the end of October 2019, the pantry had assisted more than 12,000 families and distributed more than $204,000 in food and supplies. This massive efforrt was fueled by volunteers who gave over 16,500 hours of their time and individual, businesses, churches, and civic groups who donated generously.

We focus on making the maximum positive effort for our community. Our members and volunteers provide the momentum that helps us affect change. We supply supplemental food to help those in need. It is because of our wonderful community that we are able to help so many.
